About the Back Punch Impact Tester

The Back Punch Impact Tester is used to check the impact effect on the back of plastic moulded chairs. The back-rest of a chair takes repeated loads and knocks in everyday use, so manufacturers use this machine to simulate impact on the back and confirm that their moulded chairs are strong and durable before they reach the market.

The tester delivers a fixed 3.2 kg impact to the chair back through a pneumatically operated cylinder, while a counter records each trial. This repeated-impact testing helps furniture and plastic moulding manufacturers improve product design, verify quality and reduce field failures and warranty returns. It is often used alongside the Seat Impact Tester for complete chair evaluation.

Specification

  • A pneumatic cylinder of 300 mm stroke and diameter of 40 mm and electrically operated solenoid valve will be provided to move the piston to & fro. An 3.2 kg weight will be provided to check impact on furniture. A counter will be provided to count the number of trials. Four hard chrome plated shafts of 1.5 meter height will be provided. A lock will be provided to adjust the height of box containing pneumatic cylinder and solenoid valve.
Note: A compressor having pressure between 5 kg/cm² to 10 kg/cm² will be arranged by you.

What is a Back Punch Impact Tester?
It checks the impact effect on the back (back-rest) of plastic moulded chairs by repeatedly delivering a fixed impact to the chair back to evaluate how well it withstands impact.
How does it work?
An electrically operated solenoid valve drives a pneumatic cylinder that moves a 3.2 kg weight up and down along hard chrome plated shafts to deliver repeated impacts; a counter records the number of trials and the height is adjustable.
Does it need an air compressor?
Yes. It is operated pneumatically and requires an air compressor providing pressure between 5 kg/cm² and 10 kg/cm², which is to be arranged at your site.
How is it different from the Seat Impact Tester?
The Back Punch tester checks the back-rest using a 3.2 kg weight on a 300 mm stroke cylinder, while the Seat Impact Tester checks the seat surface using an 18 kg weight on a 400 mm stroke cylinder.
