Overview

About the Tensile Testing Machine

The Computerised Tensile Testing Machine (Single Screw Tensile Tester) checks the tensile and elongation properties of plastics and rubber, as per ASTM D638, ASTM D882, ASTM D412 and ISO 527. A specimen is gripped at both ends and pulled apart at a controlled speed while the machine records the force and extension, giving a complete picture of how strong and how ductile the material is.

Through its microcontroller, the machine directly displays peak load, break load, tensile strength at peak and break, yield load, yield stress, percentage elongation at peak and break, and Young’s modulus. Connected to a PC, it also plots a Load vs Elongation graph and produces numeric reports, along with average values and standard deviation by merging different tests. The model includes additional built-in programs for Peel, Bond and Cyclic endurance based on time, counts, load and extension, with auto-stop and auto-reverse, and a wide choice of grips and fixtures makes it suitable for many materials.

FAQ

Tensile Testing Machine — FAQs

What is a Tensile Testing Machine used for?
It checks the tensile strength and elongation of plastics and rubber by gripping a specimen and pulling it apart at a controlled speed, per ASTM D638, D882, D412 and ISO 527 — measuring peak/break load, tensile strength, yield, % elongation and Young's modulus.
Which standards does it follow?
ASTM D638, ASTM D882, ASTM D412 and ISO 527.
What is the load capacity and speed range?
Up to 500 kg with one load cell, cross travel up to 1000 mm and variable speed of 10–500 mm/minute. Other capacities can be supplied on request.
What results does the computerised model give?
It displays peak/break load, tensile strength, yield load & stress, % elongation and Young's modulus, and via PC adds a Load vs Elongation graph, reports, and averages & standard deviation across merged tests.
What grips and fixtures are available?
Pneumatic, wave, wire, self-tightening, roller and smaller wave grips, plus flexural fixtures and compression plates, for different materials and test types.
