The Hydraulic Press and Die is a sample cutting press used to cut test samples having a thickness of up to 4 mm. Fitted with a die of the required shape, it punches out clean, consistently shaped specimens — such as dumbbell tensile specimens — from rubber and plastic sheets, ready for tensile, elongation and other tests.
The standard press has a capacity of 5 tonnes and is manually operated, with a horizontal day light of 12 inch and a cross travel of 4 inch. Because test results depend on specimens having exactly the right shape and clean edges, a press and die produces uniform specimens quickly and repeatably, improving the accuracy and comparability of results compared with hand cutting. Equipment with other capacities can be supplied as required.
