To check the opaqueness of plastic samples, as per IS 4985 and IS 12235 (Part 3).
The Digital Opacity Tester is used to check the opaqueness of plastic samples, as per IS 4985 and IS 12235 (Part 3). Opacity is a measure of how much light a material blocks; it is an important property for plastic pipes and films, where controlling light transmission affects both performance and appearance. The tester measures the percentage of light blocked and shows it directly on a digital display.
With a range of 0 to 99.9% opaque and a direct digital read-out, the instrument makes the test quick and easy. For water-supply pipes, high opacity helps prevent algae growth by keeping light out; for films and packaging, the correct opacity affects look, branding and product protection — so verifying opacity is a routine quality requirement in pipe and film production.
